Eligibility Requirements for a Study Visa:
  • Acceptance Letter: You must have a valid Letter of Acceptance from a designated learning institution (DLI).
  • Proof of Financial Support: You need to show that you have enough funds to pay for tuition fees, living expenses, and return transportation.
  • Intention to Leave Canada: You must prove that you will leave Canada once your studies are complete.
  • No Criminal Record: You may be asked to submit a police certificate as proof of your good character.
  • Medical Exam: In some cases, you may be required to undergo a medical examination.
  • Proof of Identity: Valid passport and recent photographs.

Work Visa: Overview

The Work Visa for students allows you to work while studying in Canada. There are two primary work options for students:

  • On-Campus Work: Students can work on their school campus while studying full-time at a DLI.
  • Off-Campus Work: Students enrolled in a full-time program at a DLI are eligible to work up to 20 hours per week during the academic session and full-time during scheduled breaks (such as winter or summer holidays).
Eligibility for Work while Studying:
  • Full-Time Enrollment: You must be enrolled as a full-time student at a recognized institution.
  • Valid Study Permit: A valid study permit that allows you to work during your studies is required.
  • Off-Campus Work Permits: If you wish to work off-campus, the work permit will be automatically granted as part of your study visa if you meet all eligibility requirements.
  • Post-Graduation Work Permit: After completing your program, you may apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), which allows you to work full-time in Canada for a period equivalent to the length of your study program (up to 3 years).

Application Process for Study and Work Visa

  • Complete Application: Fill out the required forms, including IMM 1294 (Application for Study Permit).
  • Required Documents:
  • Letter of Acceptance from a DLI.
  • Proof of Financial Support to cover tuition fees and living expenses.
  • Proof of Identity: Valid passport and photos.
  • Police Certificate (if applicable).
  • Medical Exam Results (if applicable).
  • Pay Application Fees: Submit payment for visa processing.
